Steve Glazer Wins SD7 Race
The Independent Voter PAC congratulates former Mayor of Orinda, Steve Glazer, for his victory in the May 19 special election for Senate District 7, which encompasses the communities of Contra Costa and Alameda county.
With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Glazer received 54.6 percent to Susan Bonilla's 45.4 percent.
On Facebook Glazer wrote,
"Today we saw that people are more important -- and more powerful -- than special interests, and that’s a great message for our state to hear. Our campaign struck a chord with voters frustrated by the gridlock and dysfunction in Sacramento. They want leaders who are more pragmatic than partisan, more focused on answers than ambition."
The East Bay Senate seat that was vacated by Mark DeSaulnier when he won a 2014 election to represent the 11th Congressional District.
A record high 23.08% of California voters have registered independently of political parties. Those like Glazer, who will best represent the shifting demographics of California are lawmakers who will forgo partisan talking points and focus on nonpartisan solutions.

[Glazer] arrive at the Capitol this week focused on creating relationships with his new colleagues.
“I look forward to building bridges with members of my own party, as well as Republicans, in the weeks ahead,” Glazer said in an interview Wednesday.
