Race for Assembly District 44 Heats Up
The race to represent the 44th District in the California Assembly is heating up, with campaign donations for both Jacqui Irwin (D) and Rob McCoy (R) topping $750,000.
Up against incumbent Irwin is Rob McCoy, who since the beginning of July, reports to have raised an additional $120,000.
“Folks are getting excited,” McCoy said. “We have a lot of new donors.”
Irwin has been gaining support from individual donors as well as large organizations and Democratic Assembly members and committees, bringing her total in donations close to $500,000.
“I have bipartisan support, support from businesses and individuals from throughout the county,” Irwin told the Acorn. “I’m expecting that support to increase based on the long record I have of working with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. That’s a quality people want in an Assembly person.”
